Christmas...

Christmas was VERY laid back this year. My favorite part of the whole holiday was Christmas eve when the family came together, opened up the few gifts, and enjoyed each others company.

Day 29

Day 29- In the past month, what have you learned

--I have learned that I am a unique individual and I have learned to love myself even more for being unique. My appreciation for my parents is always growing. I feel fabulous as I have lost weight from the previous year! I think I've got the greatest friends in the whole world. Blogging is so much fun, and I am glad that I have kept up with this great way to reflect upon my life.

Day 27

Day 27- Why are you doing this 30 day Challenge

I ultimately wanted to do it to help me get back into being creative about blogging. I feel there was a moment a few months back when I lost my gumption to blog. This challenge was a great way to get back into blogging.

Day 26

Day 26- What do you think about your friends:

OH MY GOODNESS....I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my friends. I seriously have the best friends a girl could ask for! I thank my lucky stars every day that I am blessed with such great people in my life. These are the people who I can turn to with my joys and sorrows; people who listen to me without judging me; and people who will drop everything to be by my side. My friends are the greatest examples to me. They are hard working individuals who know what they want out of life. They are honest and stick to the standards. I am at the point in my life where my true friends are people who are going to stay with me until the end. I don't plan on letting go of any of my AMAZING friends.

I am extremely grateful for every single one of my closest friends...Lindsy, Ashleigh, Kjell, Starr, Michael, and Toni.

Day 24

Day 24- A letter to your parents:

Dear Mom and Dad,

As I have been subbing and working with all sorts of children, I have come to realize how extremely blessed I am to have you as my parents. I grew up in a loving home that fostered a learning environment. I was able to excel in school, sports, music, and life through the support of my parents. You both taught me to respect my elders, especially teachers. How extremely important that is, and I thank you for your examples.

Furthermore, I was not beaten or starved, and I knew no matter what, my parents loved me! There are so many children that have broken homes and don't know what it is like to have a mom and dad who love each other and appreciate each other. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to go home everyday to a parent that beats you, or doesn't feed you, or neglects you, doesn't give you hugs and kisses, or who doesn't support you. Just know that I respect both of you very much and I appreciate the loving environment you create.

Much love,

Skye

Day 23

Day 23-Something you crave for a lot

Lately, as I have been on a no sweets, low carb diet, you would think I would crave cookies, cake, ice-cream. Well, I do occasionally. But what I really crave is BREAD! Most of the time, all I want is a piece of toast with a little bit of butter, and sometimes I'll want to add some honey. Oh my goodness, stop the madness, I want me some BREAD!

Day 22

Day 22-What makes you different from everyone else

There are many things that make me different...let's face it, I am a unique individual. But, one really random thing that makes me different from everyone is I absolutely love scratch paper. I get a thrill out of getting handouts that I can use later for scratch paper. This sounds weird, but it's true. My friend Michael knows this about me and he always gives me scratch paper...like yesterday in class, there was a random piece of paper in the classroom and he hands it to me and says, "Here's some scratch paper because I know you love it." I did love it.

Another unique thing about me is I love chapstick...I don't use it enough, but when I do, I can sit for a very long time just going over and over my lips with the softy goodness.

Day 21

Day 21-A picture of something that makes you happy

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Day 20

Day 20-Someone you see yourself marrying or being with in the future...

I agree with Ashleigh...STUPID question. My idea of who I will end up with changes ALL the time. Yes, I think we all have the PERFECT person in mind: Tall, Dark, and Handsome! Athletic, Smart, Caring, Religious, Funny...but I have come to find out that he just isn't out there. MR. PERFECT does not exist, which is why I don't know who I want to end up with. He could be super smart, but lack any athletic ability; he could be Tall, Dark, but not a "head turner"; He might have a funny personality, but an annoying laugh. I have come to realize I can tolerate a lot and still be extremely happy.

OMG, that's it...I want someone who makes me happy. And, hopefully, I make him happy in return.

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Avatar. It was entertaining and I really didn't have any complaints. However, I know there has been a lot of talk about how the story line wasn't very creative, which is why I thought this was funny...

Day 19

Day 19- Nicknames you have and why you have them:

Skyebee- my mom would say "bee" after my name... there are only a few people that still do it.
Skyeler-I think this one just went well with the name.
SSS
(you say "essssssss")- My volleyball coach thought it was the greatest thing to say!
Bird- Softball coach started that one, and Ashleigh's mom calls me that every now and again. If my memory serves me correctly, I think it has to do something with a song, '"Sky Bird"???
Skizzle- My brother calls me that.
Trey Dawg- Again, my brother calls me that...I shot that lights out one tournament when I was in 6th grade and now I am still known for my basketball skills!

Day 18

Day 18- Plan/ Goals/ Dreams you have:
1- I want to go Parasailing or Hang Gliding
2- I plan to go a cruise after I graduate.
3- I dream of the perfect job located in San Diego, educating individuals about their health (weight loss, substance abuse, woman's health).
4- I really want to learn Spanish!
5- One day, I want to throw a rockin' Halloween party or Christmas party.

HAPPY, HAPPY Birthday, KJELL!

Sisters, Sisters, never were there such devoted Sisters!

Kid Sister, Kid Sister...wherever I go, she goes to. Kid Sister, Kid Sister, Kid Sister and Me!

It's a Sister thing!

Day 17

Day 17-Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why
I would like to switch lived with a rock star....I think Kjell said it best, "
I just want t0 get on a stage and perform and have a gazillion fans screaming at/for me." I think that would be AWESOME!

OR

I would love to switch lives with someone in a Broadway play...I can't quite act, but I do love to belt out Broadway songs. I just think it would be so exhilarating, for one day at least.

Day 13

Day 13-A letter to someone who has hurt you recently...

I can't think of being hurt recently. But, I do really like this poem that could be applied to this...

The Oak Tree

Johnny Ryder, Jr.
A mighty wind blew night and day
It stole the oak tree's leaves away
Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark

But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around
The weary wind gave up and spoke.
How can you still be standing Oak?

The oak tree said, I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two
Carry every leaf away
Shake my limbs, and make me sway

But I have roots stretched in the earth
Growing stronger since my birth
You'll never touch them, for you see
They are the deepest part of me

Until today, I wasn't sure
Of just how much I could endure
But now I've found, with thanks to you
I'm stronger than I ever knew

Day 12

Day 12-How you found out about blogger and why you have one

I think Ashley Hoopes started one the summer of 2007 when I was living with her. Then, I heard about how Leah and Jess were blogging... Lindsy started one, and I secretly started one just to see what it was all about. I absolutely loved it, and from then on, I have continued to blog. I find it's a great way to share your life with friends that you don't necessarily see all the time. We can stay in touch by reading everyone's blog.
