You’re mad. Bonkers. Off your head. But I’ll tell you a secret; all the best people are.

I was a big bad eighth grader at Springville… I was definitely a tomboy, which lead to the breaking of my finger and having surgery because I was playing basketball with the boys at break! I am pretty sure I was on a bobby sox softball team (my last year playing). I was probably traveling up and down Cali playing basketball in some tourney getting our trash kicked by 4-D stars!

5 Things on my list to do today...
Teach my classes about STD’s and HIV & take one class to the hospital for a tour
Plan for Stein to sub for me tomorrow!
Read some more of KIRA-KIRA and the BOM
Think about grading some essays, but not really doing it!
Coaching my softball team for a win against Tulare Union

Snacks I enjoy...
Fruit and Cottage Cheese
Kit Kats!
Pickles and Cheese
Lunchmeat
Sunflower seeds

Bad Habits...
Complaining
Some suction cup ear thing (which I am sure you all know about!)
Crack my knuckles
PMSING TEMPER!

5 Places I have lived...
Porterville, California
La Jolla, California
Provo, UT
Colorado Spring, CO
(Hopefully) Rehoboth, MA

5 Jobs I have had...
Custodian
Cafeteria Worker
Pest Control Sales Caller
Security Guard
Pee Collector!

5 Things you don't know about me...
My nose runs constantly, which means I always have crusties on my nose!
At a stop light, I have to beat the person next to me when the light turns green!
I have a fear that one day someone will cut my hair in the middle of the night
I have watched Ever After and The First Harry Potter movie probably 20+ times.
I long to marry the Prince of England, even though he doesn’t know I exist!

If I suddenly had a million dollars...
I would pay off all my debt, and my parent’s debt. I would hire someone to get rid of the ugly houses that are around us or somehow buy out that land! Get a new car! Travel with my friends… Give money to health organizations (they are always in need of money!)

How am I supposed to keep my weight under control when my family forces me to make such a delicious cake? Oh, I could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner! It's so moist and full of goodness!

KATRINA

Starr thought she would help my mom and out and dye her hair... We all thought that dark brown would a good color for her... HOWEVER, it turned out to be black!!!!! Now, instead of calling my mom Kathy... we call her Katrina (you really need to get the accent in there... roll the R)

ALICE IN WONDERLAND.......TWILIGHT

Who knew that Alice in Wonderland could be so intriguing! I just finished a book called " The Looking Glass Wars," which is about Alyss, who is the princess of Wonderland! It's a book that plays off the childhood story of the crazy white rabbit and little miss Alice. I have to admit I like this story a lot better =) It's a series, so I just purchased the next one-- hopefully it keeps getting better!

TWILIGHT!
I was just updating myself about the Twilight series... The movie is coming out in December, and the last and final book will be out in August! OH-- I can't wait! Does she become a vampire or what? Just tell us already!

Bring it On 5 year Olds...

21

ANNOYED!

MY MOST HATED QUESTION ASKED BY THE KIDS...

Student: "Are we doing anything today?"
Me: "NO, we are just gonna stare at the wall!"

The students literally think that we aren't going to do work! I understand that it's getting close to the end of the year, but all they do is COMPLAIN... "I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS, IT'S BORING!" Thinking I would try to mix things up a bit, I'm having them make pamphlets of the information in the book! They get to color, cut out pictures, chat.

Do they find this fun? NOPE-- NOTHING PLEASES THEM. One student asked in a stupid kid tone.. " Why did we make pamphlets anyway?"

Are you kidding me? I want to knock some since into them! Once they were done with the pamphlets, I had them do a boring assignment! That will teach 'em! If you want boring, I'll give you boring!

THINGS CAN ONLY GO UP!

SHANIA TWAIN LYRICS "Up!
"It's 'bout as bad as it could be
Seems everybody's buggin' me
Like nothing wants to go my way--
yeah, it just ain't been my day
Nothin's comin' easily

Even my skin is acting weird
I wish that I could grow a beard
Then I could cover up my spots
not play connect the dots
I just wanna disappear

[Chorus:]
Up--up--up--Can only go up from here
Up--up--up--Upwhere the clouds gonna clear
Up--up--up--There's no way but up from here

Even something as simple as
Forgettin' to fill up on gas
There ain't no explanation why--
things like that can make you cry
Just gotta learn to have a laugh

When everything is goin' wrong
Don't worry, it won't last for long
Yeah, it's all gonna come around
Don't go let it get you down
You gotta keep on holding on

It's 'bout as bad as it could be
Seems everybody's buggin' me
Like nothing want to go my way--
yeah, it just ain't been my day
Nothin's comin' easily

Anywho-- In the end, I agreed to join her in the 7 mile jaunt around San Francisco! Sounds like it could actually be fun! YEAH FOR RUNNING!

Carrots, Eggs, & Coffee!

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl. Turning to her daughter, she asked, ' Tell me what you see.'

'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg.

Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma. The daughter then asked, 'What does it mean, mother?'

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak. The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened. The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

'Which are you?' she asked her daughter. 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength?

Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff? Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor. If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches
