Sweet November

It has been an eventful month!

First- I met an amazing guy! His name is Latu, he's from New Zealand (has a great accent), and is the sweetest, most caring, loveable guy. He treats me like a queen and makes me feel like I am the greatest person on earth.

Second- My BFF, Lindsy got married! YAY- I had the opportunity to go out the Massachusetts and join the celebration. It was great being back east again and see the area and all the people. It's been 3 years ( boy time sure does fly). The Trifecta (Ashleigh, Lindsy and Skye) was reunited. We had a blast and I am so happy for Mr. and Mrs. Revolorio.

Third- Thanksgiving= Family. I am super grateful for my family and for the opportunities I have to enjoy the holidays with them. They are my best friends, my support, and some of my favorite people! I Love, Love, Love my Fam.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I feel like I have been celebrating Halloween all month long, which was AWESOME! I went to Great America, which was super scary and fun! I had a scary movie night with some friends another weekend, and then I partied it up last Friday and Saturday at different Halloween dances...both were so great and I definitely got my groove on! Here are some pics of the events.
PS- I made my own Dorothy costume! It turned out GREAT!

Spanish and Sexy Beast!

I have this knack for speaking Spanish to people who clearly DO NOT speak the language. Take a look at this story, and you will understand!

Si!

When I first moved out to Massachusetts to live with Linny for a few months, another girl was actually leaving. So, to send her on her way, we decided to hit up Newport, RI. We got to see the Mansions, see the beach and take a nice stroll. We also decided we wanted Mediterranean food. As we are ordering, the obviously non Hispanic server man asked if I wanted some Baklava. What was my reply..."Si"! Hmm, wrong language. I gave Lindsy a funny look as I realized this and quickly replied, "YES". Feeling like a total nimwhit, I hung my head in hope that they would not judge me too harshly!

Another example is when I am with my Polynesian friend...every time I see this guy, Espanol escapes my lips. He doesn't speak the language at all, but I feel the need to use the ten Spanish words I know on him. Call me crazy! (Happens when I sub as well... I speak the language to the kids who have no clue what I am saying!). I've got to get a handle on this.

I also just wanted to share this as well... thought it was great:

Dancer in the making!

Kasia has always loved to dance...wiggling her booty and moving to the beat. She is definitely a natural.

Here is Kasia tapping!

I love this picture...she is eating while she is dancing (or stretching)... As Ashleigh would say, "She is a true Stoddard!"

Shout out to Ashleigh for always being so willing to help with Kasia- I know Kjell appreciates it. Thanks Ashie =)

Little Girl on a Plane... Here's for a good laugh!

A congressman was seated in first class next to a little girl on an airplane. He turned to her and said, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger."

The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger, "What would you want to talk about?"

"Oh, I don't know," said the congressman. "How about global warming, universal health care or stimulus packages?" as he smiled smugly.

"OK," she said. "Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"

The legislator, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea."

To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss global warming, universal health care or the economy when you don't know crap?"

Then she went back to reading her book.

And I'm Back!

Sorry for checking out for a bit... life has been a little crazy. Here's an update:

I have a new nephew (Ryu), who is such a cute baby. I was there for the birth and it was amazing. Kjell did AWESOME... I am so glad to have been able to be there with her, yet again.

My niece Keira is doing so great as well... She growing up to be such a "beauty," as Starr would say and I agree!

I also got to go on a wicked cool vacation with Ashleigh Adkins family... we hit up Disneyland and then went camping. Even got to see a bear! It was an awesome trip and I am so blessed to have such great people in my life.

So now summer has come and gone and I am glad to say I am back in San Jose. For those who don't know, I got a teaching job at San Jose State University for the semester (hoping to extend it). I get to teach HS1, which is a general education course (pretty much like high school health). I am so stoked to be teaching at the University and I hope I can do it for another semester.

I love being back in the Bay area as well... Now that I don't have school breathing down my neck, I can do so some many fun things. I live in a great area, I have a good roommate, Starr is in the area (we have Tuesday night dinners), I am meeting a TON of new people and I can't wait to connect with my old friends. Pray that I can find a more permanent job here because I love it out here in San Jose.

Les Mis was AWESOME! My dad, Starr and I got to go see it last weekend and we were in awe of how great the music was. We have all seen it before, but we acted like it was the first time. We were all crying and drawn into the play by the beauty of the voices. I highly recommend seeing this amazing play.

The Take of a Butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. So the man decided to help the butterfly, he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If are allow go through our life without any obstacles, it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. And we could never fly. So have a nice day and struggle a little. : )
