Ode to Michael...My Best Buddy!

Without Michael, I don't know if I would make it through grad school! He's the glue that keeps me together. He pushes me and makes me work hard in everything that I do. We get along so well (I think it make of our classmates jealous!) and we have such a good friendship. Thanks, Michael...you seriously are the best!

Choose Faith

The question was brought up the other day, "Why should we have faith?" I think this is a great quote to answer that question...

"Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen, and choose faith over pessimism."
--Richard C. Edgley

Why choose to be pessimistic or choose to be unhappy when you can have faith in something? It reminds me of another quote ...it's best to make wishes not knowing if they'll come true, than not wishing for anything at all. I know my life is so much better when I have the faith that everything is going to work out just fine (even if I really don't know the outcome)... being unhappy is not FUN or healthy...I CHOOSE FAITH!

Reflection...

Do you ever just go to people's blogs you don't even know and read about their life or their thoughts? It's so fascinating...some people really have a knack for blogging! I feel I used to be that way. My blogs are no longer as intriguing. I don't know if it is due to lack of inspiration or creativity? Maybe I am bored or my life is boring? I don't know what is it, but I long to return back to the way it was...when I found humor or insight from the littlest things.

Yesterday, I was reading over my other blog (Stories of Me-I gave up on that one, which is now just a word document) and decided that I wrote some really great stories! I will add one here because it was a classic moment in life and I wish you could have all been there.

They’re Lesbian, That’s Awesome

This was probably one of the funniest moments in my life. My aunt, who happens to be lesbian, was living with us for a while about 2 years ago. Kjell and I happened to come home for about a month or two before we did an internship down in San Diego. My Aunt was sitting upstairs working on her computer while Kjell and I were watching TV. The show, "Cheaters" came on. It is basically a reality show about people hiring someone to find out if they were being cheated on. Usually you see the male cheating on the female, but this one was a little different. It happened to be a lesbian couple. Kjell was apparently shocked because she yelled out, " THEY ARE LESBIAN!" I turn and give her a, " what are you saying that for" look! Kjell quickly recovers by saying, "THAT'S AWESOME!" I was completely dying inside with laughter, so I quickly excused myself and ran downstairs so I can bust a gut. Kjell came down only a few seconds later hysterically laughing with me. When I think of the look Kjell gave me when she said this, I can't help but giggle to myself. "Classic" is all I have to say about that!

Good decisions don't always make life easy....but they do make it easier.

The Early Morning Call...

Being a substitute teacher is great! You get to pick and choose if you want to work that day or not, and for the most, where you want to work. However, one thing I absolutely HATE is the early morning wake-up call. Part of me knows it is coming, but the other part of me (which is still half asleep) dreads the vibrating phone at 5:30 am. It causes an internal conflict...do I wake up to answer the phone or do I ignore it and sleep? It's not a fun battle- and I usually wake up.

I am a planner, so I like to know if I will be working the next day in order to get everything prepared. The spontaneity of the early morning call always drive me a little crazy...feeling rushed in not something I am good at, but I guess it's something I just have to deal with. Anyhoo, just a random thought as I was woken up this morning...

Spiritual Thought...

Last week, I was listening the KLOVE (Christian Rock Station) and heard this quote:

"Love of God is pure when joy and suffering inspire and equal degree of gratitude."

I know in times of joy and happiness we tend to be more grateful for things. I also know when we are going through hard times, it is easy to question, 'Why me?" But being grateful for our trials is all about how we react to them. I was once told, "We never really have bad days; only bad moments. It's up to us if we want that bad moment to become a bad day."

We may never know in this life why we experience what we do. But, we can feel confident that we can learn and grow from the experience...and in the end feel grateful for our Heavenly Father and our experiences.

Remember we are never alone in our trials and pain....Ultimately, we make it through our suffering with the Lord's help. For which we can be eternally grateful.
